PRESS RELEASE

Arcus Infrastructure Partners founds the umbrella organization Portus Data Centers and invests in IPHH Internet Port Hamburg GmbH as its third holding

New platform for edge data centers with a focus on Germany and surrounding countries

London, December 12, 2023 – Arcus Infrastructure Partners (“Arcus”) announces the launch of Portus Data Centers (“Portus”) and invests in IPHH Internet Port Hamburg GmbH (“IPHH”), a leading regional data center operator and internet service provider in Northern Germany.

The Portus edge data center platform thus comprises four central data centers in the key locations of Hamburg, Munich and Luxembourg. The acquisition of IPHH by Arcus European Infrastructure Fund 3 SCSp (“AEIF3”) follows the acquisition of SpaceNet DataCenter (“SDC”) in Munich, which was developed by the local IT service provider SpaceNet AG. The Luxembourg-based company European Data Hub (“EDH”) was acquired at the beginning of the year.

“I am very excited about the launch of Portus Data Centers in Germany and neighboring countries, which offer enormous growth potential,” says Adriaan Oosthoek, Chairman of Portus Data Centers. “Our edge platform with locations in Luxembourg, Munich and Hamburg, which already offers extensive capacities, is an excellent starting point that we are constantly expanding to meet growing customer demand. We will also be expanding our presence at other locations in the coming months.”

“Given the rapidly growing demand for data center capacity in the German market, IPHH represents a sustainable investment opportunity for AEIF3 and is an excellent fit with Portus’ porƞolio,” said John Shea, Partner at Arcus. “As a local market leader in connectivity with experienced management, a highly skilled team and a growing customer base, it fits perfectly into Portus’ buy-and-build strategy. We are very much looking forward to working with the IPHH team to support their next phase of growth as part of the Portus family.”

Sascha Pollok, CEO of IPHH, who has been with the company for 25 years, adds: “The IPHH team is impressed by Portus’ collaborative, highly professional approach and long-term strategy and vision for the future. We are very much looking forward to working with Portus and Arcus to pursue our growth plan over the coming years and continue to provide our customers with market-leading service.”

IPHH operates two data centers in the east of Hamburg, which have a capacity of 2.4 megawatts. The facilities are perfectly positioned at the north-south and east-west nodes for connectivity. The company has a diverse, growing and highly networked customer base that includes telecommunications providers as well as global technology and social media companies.

Arcus also ensures that the investments are sustainable and environmentally friendly. For example, 100% of the energy consumed comes from renewable sources, and the data centers are also very efficient in terms of electricity consumption with an efficiency ratio of around 1.3.

Hamburg represents the fourth largest market for data centers in Germany and acts as a connectivity gateway for the whole of northern Germany. It is already clear that IT outsourcing from corporate customers and local managed service providers as well as global technology companies will lead to strong growth in demand. Arcus was advised by Noerr (Legal), Arup (Technical), BDO (Financial and Tax) and Aon (Insurance).
